Leaping Cow was born out love for ice cream. Trav Carter, owner of Leaping Cow, has a passion for making and eating ice cream. He remembers as a kid skimming raw cream off the top of milk bottles bought at the dairy farm in his South Georgia town. To the thick cream were added fresh peaches just off the tree. Each batch, summer after summer, had the same, consistent flavor and quality which is repeated in Leaping Cow ice cream today. Leaping Cow uses high quality milk and cream and flavors its peach ice cream with real peaches; no flavoring is used. These are the roots to Leaping Cow.
Only the freshest, highest quality ingredients are used. It’s that extra trouble and expense to obtain the best ingredients to constantly give that wonderful taste and flavor. It’s the mixture of 4 vanilla extracts, Madagascar, Tahitian, Mexican and Ugandan, in the Vanilla Bean ice cream which gives it a delicious flavor. It’s the butter toasted pecans which have been toasted to the right texture which add that extra punch to Caramel Ice Cream. Its whole, toasted pistachios which flavor the ice cream, not artificial flavoring. It’s that extra little step or that hard- to- get ingredient which make the Leaping Cow ice cream different from the rest.
Trav is a graduate of Penn State Ice Cream School, where he learned the science behind the making of ice cream. Since then, he has worked diligently at the art and craft of perfecting its taste. Please feel free to suggest ideas for ice cream flavors.
